Dr. Young is a passionate clinician and researcher. He is passionate about the treatment of cancer, often being described as an interventional oncologist. Dr. Young offers patients minimally invasive treatment options for a number of cancers including renal cell carcinoma (kidney) cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and other liver cancers. He provides his patients with the option to treat these and other cancers on an outpatient bases. Among other procedures he performs thermal ablation (microwave ablation, radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation), radioembolization (transarterial radioembolization (TARE), selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT)) with yttrium 90, and transarterial chemoembolization. Dr. Young uses some of these same techniques to provide pain relief for patients with cancer related pain.
Dr. Young also is very active in the fields of portal hypertension, including transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS), and portal vein recanalization. Finally, Dr. Young treats patients with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) through a minimally invasive technique known as prostate artery embolization.
Dr. Young is also an active researcher having published over 70 papers and regularly speaking at national and international conferences. He has published multiple papers on treatment of primary and secondary cancers of the liver, treatment of portal hypertension, and prostate artery embolization among others.
