I like to look at my patient as a whole and not their complaint or illness at the time of visit. What culture, ethnicity, religion, family dynamics are ongoing with this patient? There are many facets to people's lives and this impact one's health and ability to improve their physical and mental health. If I can take into account these facets, I can better understand how the patient will be able to respond to the suggested treatment plan.
