Care Philosophy
My approach to patient care is holistic and collaborative. I greatly value a patient’s lived experiences and how biopsychosocial factors may be contributing to his/her current concerns. The patient is the expert of their life and I help to facilitate change by incorporating empathy, supportive listening, and therapeutic approaches including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral/Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Additionally, I believe that the most effective patient care includes collaboration between all the patient’s providers. I strive to engage in clear and open communication with my colleagues to determine the best plan of care for the patient.
Specializing In
I am specializing in Health Psychology—where medicine and psychology intersect. I work with adult patients who have medical illnesses that may be exacerbated by psychological, behavioral, social, or cultural factors. Specific medical conditions may include, but are not limited to, the following: chronic pain, insomnia, diabetes, obesity. Additionally, I also work with patients who may have anxiety, depression, or difficulties adjusting to a medical condition or recent medical diagnosis.
Interests & Activities
I enjoy spending time with my husband and our chocolate lab, golfing, traveling, swimming, watching/attending sporting events, and trying new restaurants. I am also a big Wisconsin sports fan (Go Pack Go)!
